Cape Point
This is genuinely the best touring day in Cape Town, with breathtaking ocean views stretching from the road, running alongside impressive cliffs and snaking down to the ocean’s edge around Chapman’s Peak. Southern Right Whales can be seen less than 30m from the shore.
The day is full of surprises around every corner. From wine to penguins, ostriches to baboons, culture to history – it’s a great day out.
Your day will start at around 09h00am, and you will return at around 17h30pm. The highlight of the day is a visit to the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point, known in the old world as the ‘Cape of Storms’.

Whale Watching
At the southern tip of Africa, where two of the world’s greatest oceans converge, a combined experience of land and sea and the rainbow culture of the Western Cape offer you the most exciting land and boat-based whale-watching venues in the world!
Each year, Southern Right whales migrate into the coastal waters of the Western Cape to calve and nurse their young. The whales, often mere metres from the shore, provide unsurpassed whale-watching opportunities between June and November. Humpbacks migrate through the region between May and December each year, while Bryde’s whales are found slightly further offshore all year round.
The Whale Route starts south of Cape Town and extends to Durban, 1 200 miles of whale-watching coastline. The route traverses several famous protected areas, including the Garden Route, Tsitsikamma National Park, and the Transkei. At least 37 species of whales and dolphins can be found in the waters off South Africa. However, the route is most famous for encounters with Southern Right whales, Humpback whales, and several coastal dolphin species.
You can also see African Penguins, Cape Fur seals, Black Oystercatcher birds, and other marine life. From July to November, Walker Bay – about a 90-minute drive east of Cape Town – is one of the world’s most spectacular vantage points for whale-watching.

Winelands
The Cape Winelands start at the base of Table Mountain in the Constantia Valley, where the oldest wine farm in the Cape can be found – Groot Constantia. We will then move to the Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl region, where the best wine in South Africa is produced. Your day will be filled with great wine, food, and company.
The wine farms are unique, and each has its own style and pace. We do three tastings and a cellar tour, followed by lunch in either Franschhoek or Stellenbosch at one of the farms. The Winelands have a rich history that can be seen in the old Cape Dutch-style farmhouses and in the towns of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. You will have time to walk through these towns and visit old museums, galleries, curio shops and African markets. For wine connoisseurs, you will love the anticipation of finding the perfect bottle of wine.
For those of you with young children, this tour can include visiting the Cheetah Outreach Program and Bird Show at Spier, Crocodile Farm and Butterfly World.
Cape Town City & Table Mountain
The city of Cape Town, with its guardian – Table Mountain, has a rich and diverse history from the indigenous bushman tribes to the Portuguese, Dutch and British – all leaving their mark on the city. Your day will start with a visit to Table Mountain. You will be transported to the top of the mountain by cable car to 1086m above sea level. The view from the top is breathtaking and includes a panoramic view of the entire peninsula.
After Table Mountain, you will descend into the city, visiting the Company Gardens (the gardens where the Dutch grew their fresh produce), the Castle, Bo-Kaap (the old slave quarters of the Cape) and a walk through Cape Town’s Greenmarket Square (bargain hunter’s dream) as well as visiting the world famous Waterfront for the latest in high-end shopping.
By the end of the day, you will have a good understanding of the people and culture of Cape Town.
Robben Island
Robben Island – South Africa’s Alcatraz Prison. It was home to most of South Africa’s post-1994 leaders. Mr Nelson Mandela called it home for 17 years. Today’s prison is a museum, and daily tours depart from the Waterfront to the island.
A Robben Island tour gives visitors a good understanding of the history of apartheid in South Africa, and you will receive unique insight from your guide on the island. All of the guides are ex-political prisoners.
The tour duration is around 3 hours, including a boat trip to the island and a tour of the facility and island.
This trip can be added to the Cape Town Table Mountain Day. It is considered a must for ‘history buffs’.
Garden Route
The Garden route stretches from Mossel Bay – the landing place of the first Europeans in South Africa in 1488, to Port Elizabeth in the East, hugging the Indian Ocean contour. The route follows some of the most beautiful and spectacular scenery in Africa.
You will be spellbound by enchanting sea views, mysterious forests and rugged mountain ranges. South African Journeys will place you in the heart of the garden route, the town of Knysna.
The Knysna area is known for its indigenous forests of the century-old stinkwood and yellowwood trees.
Knysna is the heart of the adventure scene in Southern Africa, with the world's highest bungee jump at Bloukrans Bridge, river tubing, shark diving, deep sea fishing, mountain biking, and sea safaris. The area also has some of Africa's best beaches.
